FROM THE PASTORS' DESK……
MAY 16, 2004

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who have made their First Holy Communion these past two weeks:  first at Our Lady of Ransom Parish in San Ardo and then last Saturday at Old Mission San Miguel,  Congratulations to their parents & godparents, as well.  I am most grateful for their participation in the two-year preparation program.  May God bless you for all you do for your children and godchildren.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the catechists who helped prepare these children so well for the First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion.  You did a wonderful job!  Thank you and may God bless you.

This Sunday we're honoring our catechists.  When I see our former pastor, Fr. Larry Gosselin, OFM, I like to kid him about leaving me in the lurch with the responsibility for completing the two monumental projects of the building of our new parish hall and the retrofitting and restoration of our mission church.  But I do have to admit that he didn't leave me alone.  He gave me a great parish staff with which to work.  And that includes an excellent religious education department run by Gaylo Elston, our very capable & affable Parish Co-ordinator of Religious Education and Sister Loretta Guevarra, S.A., our Pastoral Associate, who leads the Spanish-speaking Religious Education Department. Both of them will readily admit that they are blessed with some of the best and most dedicated catechists in the entire Diocese of Monterey.  The tremendous amount of effort, care, and dedication they put into their classes have inspired me greatly.

Catechists, thank you!  May the Lord return to you a hundred-fold for all you do for our children.  I ask all my fellow parishioners to join me in expressing our gratitude to these fine people.

                                                             Sincerely yours in Christ,

                                                             Fr. Raymond J. Tintle, OFM
      Pastor
