FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK……

SUNDAY,  JANUARY 23, 2005

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Today is Ecumenical Sunday. We are about to conclude our annual week of prayer for Christian Unity. It has been a glorious week as we have joined other faith communities from Atascadero to San Miguel in prayer and fellowship.

There is something special about a person's last request before they die. Condemned prisoners are granted a last request before they are executed. Usually the prison authorities will do all in their power to fulfill the condemned person's last request. Sons and daughters will do the same thing for a dying parent. A friend will do all in his or her power to honor his or her friend's dying request.

Jesus had a special request the night before He died. It is recorded in the Gospel of John: "I PRAY ALSO FOR THOSE WHO WILL BELIEVE IN ME, THAT ALL MAY BE ONE AS YOU, FATHER, ARE IN ME AND I IN YOU; I PRAY THAT THEY MAY BE ONE IN US, THAT THE WORLD MAY BELIEVE THAT YOU SENT ME." (John 17:20 & 21.)

How can we deny our Savior's last request? Please join with me and many of your fellow parishioners as we honor Jesus' greatest desire before He went to the cross for us at Calvary. The remaining schedule has been placed in the parish bulletin. Our San Miguel Mission Parish will join with Fr. Michael Volk and the parishioners of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Paso Robles to host the final night this coming Tuesday evening, January 25th, at 7:00 pm. You will both be blessed and become a blessing for others as well!

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

    Fr.Raymond J. Tintle, OFM
                 Pastor
