FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK……

SUNDAY,  JANUARY 30, 2005

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

We are quickly working ourselves to the end of the first month of 2005! How time does fly! No wonder why Jesus told us in last week's scripture when He said: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." This week the Prophet Zephaniah, in the First Reading, tells us to: "Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, do what is right. Seek justice." St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians: "the weak of the world are chosen by God, to confound the wise." "Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord."

In the Gospel Jesus upset the standards of worldly justice in this charter of the heavenly reign: "It belongs not to the rich but to the poor in spirit, not to the powerful but to the lowly, not to the warmongers but to the peace makers. Rejoice and be content, because the recompense that you will receive, will be great in heaven!" Come, Lord, help your servant, be merciful to him, that he will never be sorry for having called on you!

We wish to thank all who had a role to play in making the fifth year of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity a success. We like to think that Jesus was pleased with all the efforts put into this work to realize Jesus' wish, "that all may be one…" Loaves and Fishes in Paso Robles and Atascadero will be pleased with the money that was collected: $2,692.73. Each has received a check for $1,346.36. God Bless all who donated each night for a week!

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

    Fr.Raymond J. Tintle, OFM
                 Pastor
