FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK……


SUNDAY,  MARCH 27, 2005

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

"FAN INTO A FLAME THE GIFT THAT GOD GAVE YOU." (See 2 Timothy 1: 6.) This is our theme for this year's Annual Bishop's Appeal. By now I hope that many of you received your letter from me and have had the opportunity to prayerfully read the accompanying brochure that explains how your generous pledge will be used to support vital diocesan programs as well as this local parish of Mission San Miguel. I also hope that you have had the opportunity to dialogue with those in your household regarding what God would have your pledge be for this new year of 2005.

We welcome to our parish, Martina O'Sullivan from the Stewardship Office of the Diocese of Monterey. She is the successor to Sr. Laura Goedken, O.P., whom many of you knew. I'm certain that you will find Martina to be a delightful, exciting, and engaging speaker for our Pledge Sunday, April 3, 2005.
Our own parish goal this year is $40,000.00. I believe that we can not only meet this goal, but even exceed it! God has been so generous with us in calling to our aid generous benefactors like Mrs. Phoebe Hearst Cooke. Their generosity and readiness to respond to the vision that God has given us for this parish of Mission San Miguel as we look to the future inspires us to push the envelope a little and do our part as well. God needs each and everyone of us to accomplish His goals for us in 2005.
