FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK……

SUNDAY,  APRIL 17, 2005

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

"How time flies!" This is already "Good Shepherd Sunday" when Christ is actively searching out the lost to bring them back into the fold.

In the Acts of the Apostles: 2,14. 36-41, Peter proclaims that only in the name of Jesus Christ are sins forgiven and the Holy Spirit received. It is a good invitation to those who keep away from the Sacrament of Reconciliation for so long! Jesus gave his priests the power to forgive sins.

The second reading, Peter 2, 20-25, tells us that Jesus suffered for the sins of all people, and by His death on the cross, all can live in accord with God's will. People who strayed like sheep "have now returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls."

The Gospel, John 10,14, brings Jesus' words to us when He said: "I am the gate for the sheep." He declared that whoever enters through Him, will be saved because He came that others may have life and have the fullness of life.

These readings bring to mind that our hospitality in receiving our people, friends and relatives in a good spirit, could be a powerful testimony, it is an image of Jesus feeding his flock in love.

Jesus has risen! The Good Shepherd, who gave His life for his sheep, alleluia!

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

       Fr. Ray Tintle, OFM
                Pastor
