FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

SUNDAY,  MAY 1, 2005

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

We are certainly beginning to feel Spring in the air! As we look around us, the flowers are really making themselves known, by their colorful beauty and their perfume floating through the air. It makes one feel that we should be out planting a beautiful garden.

In the first reading, we find Philip trying out his efforts in Samaria, proclaiming Christ's Word and even making miracles in His name. It was a new beginning for Philip, as this time of the year should be for us. The Apostles were so enlightened by all this, that they begin praying that the Holy Spirit would come to the Samaritans.

The second reading is short, but it lets us know that Jesus was put to death, only to rise again through the power of the Holy Spirit. Again we are reminded of "Spring" and new life!

The Gospel tells us that Jesus assured his disciples that He would not have them alone to face their apostolic jobs, but would ask the Father to send the "Advocate" (the Holy Spirit) to be with them always! We are lucky that the Holy Spirit is here for us. It is good for us to remember to call on the Holy Spirit to come to our aid.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Ray Tintle, OFM
Pastor
