FROM THE PASTORS DESK……
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2005
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
This weekend we celebrate WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. Once again you and I are called upon to exercise our pre-eminent vocation as baptized people to be missionaries in the name of the Lord Jesus. On the day of our baptism, the priest or deacon who baptized us anointed the crowns of our heads with the oil of chrism and told us: "AS CHRIST WAS ANOINTED PRIEST, PROPHET, AND KING, SO MAY YOU LIVE ALWAYS AS A MEMBER OF HIS BODY, SHARING EVERLASTING LIFE." The best way to share everlasting life with our brothers and sisters in mission countries is to support our missionaries by our prayers and our monetary gifts.
One of Jesus' last mandates He left us while he was still on this earth was the Great Commission: "GO, THEN, TO ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE AND MAKE THEM MY DISCIPLES: BAPTIZE THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND TEACH THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. AND I WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE END OF THE AGE." (Matthew 28: 19 & 20) This is, after all, what we do best as faith-filled Catholics.
I know you will once again respond generously to this call. Thank you in advance for what you are going to do.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Raymond Tintle, OFM Pastor
