The Reverend Francis Earl Thome
Diocese of
Monterey, March 6 2001- The Reverend
Francis Earl “Frank” Thome, 67, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Templeton, CA
Reverend Thome was the
principal of Mission College Preparatory School for six years. He was a
graduate of George William College in Chicago and received his teaching
credential at San Jose State University. He taught in Pajaro Valley Unified
School District for 25 years, serving at Rolling Hills, Mintie White and Pajaro
Middle Schools. After the death of his wife, Helene in 1984, he briefly retired
from teaching and entered St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park to complete his
studies for the Roman Catholic priesthood.
Reverend Thome was
ordained in Watsonville in 1989. He served the Diocese of Monterey in Santa
Cruz, Watsonville, Greenfield and San Luis Obispo. He retired in 1999 and moved
to Heritage Ranch in Paso Robles. You could see him at San Miguel Mission
saying Mass where he was deeply loved by the parishioners and will be missed.
Rev. Thome is survived by
his father, Aubrey Thome of Turlock; five daughters, Luellen Reese of Alameda,
Karin Albert and Janet Seminerio of Watsonville, Margaret Swain of Peoria,
Ill., and Judy Hill of San Diego; sister Barbara Johnson of Redding; and five
great grandchildren
