GREGORIAN CHANT-S.R.O. IN MISSION CHURCH

Mission San  Miguel, San Miguel, CA. . – The San Miguel Mission church was filled to capacity with over 400 people who came out to hear “The Chapel of Charlemagne” sing Gregorian chant.  It was the first time in many decades that this church heard such music performed live. Following welcoming remarks by pastor, Fr. Tom Messner, local musicologist John Warren introduced the consort and its director, Dr. Robert Fowells.

The one- hour program consisted of Gregorian chant with interludes of Renaissance Lute pieces played by Dr. Michael Miranda.

Fans of all ages came from as far away as Los Angeles and San Jose.  Parish Council President Annette Copley said: “It was so wonderful to have so many different people gather together to hear this beautiful music reverberate once again in this old historic church.  I want to thank those people who made donations to the Parish Building Fund as well as all those people who worked so hard to make the concert a success.  Thank you all!”
