Three Benefits Help Mission San Miguel

Mission San  Miguel, San Miguel, CA. . – Ever since the devastating December 22, 2003 earthquake that red-tagged and closed the historic Mission San Miguel church doors, concerned area entrepreneurs have rolled-up their sleeves and began finding ways to help get those doors reopened by various benefits.

Rainbows End Vineyard and Winery, at 8535 Mission Lane (just off River Road) in San Miguel, is donating 25% of their 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon sales toward the Mission Preservation Fund. Open Friday – Sunday 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. or by calling (805) 467-3345 for an appointment.

On Saturday March 20th, the Paso Robles Vintners and Growers Association (PRVGA) are hosting the 12th Annual Zinfandel Festival. This annual fundraising event is one of the largest Zinfandel events in California. A portion of this year’s event will benefit Mission San Miguel. “We chose Mission San Miguel Arcangel because of its long history and connection to Paso Robles vintners and growers,” says PRVGA Committee chair Mary Baker. She added, ”Padres of the Mission became the first vineyardists in the area when Spanish Conquistadors and Franciscan missionaries arrived in 1797 and introduced the first wine grapes to Paso Robles.” More information about this event is available on the PRVGA web site at: www.pasowine.com .

On March 29, 2004, at 7:00PM, the post-quake newly reopened Paris Restaurant in downtown Paso Robles and Vina Robles Winery are joining  in a common effort to raise funds for the badly damaged Mission. The total Mission preservation project will require several million dollars to complete. Together, Vina Robles and  Paris Restaurant want to help begin this monumental program with their own first step by hosting a benefit dinner for the Mission. The dinner will be a three course Parisian Style Wine Dinner, prepared by chef and owner Claude Chazalon, paired with Vina Robles’ Bordeaux and Rhone style wines. The evening promises fabulous food and wine in good company and support for North County’s oldest historic landmark.  Dinner including donation and wine is $75.00 per person. For reservations  and more information, call Paris Restaurant(805) 227-4082. Vina Robles is a family owned Paso Robles estate that was founded in 1996 by Swiss entrepreneur, Hans Nef.  For more information on Vina Robles visit: www.vinarobles.com
