Mission San Miguel
Mission
San Miguel, San Miguel, CA. . –On
December 22, when a devastating
6.5 magnitude earthquake hit northern San Luis Obispo county, Mission San
Miguel was red-tagged and forced to close its doors (for now) to the public.
Since then the Mission has been celebrating its Masses at another type of
mission – Casa San Miguel, an outreach center for the hungry and needy of San
Miguel and Northern San Luis Obispo and Southern Monterey counties. While
Mission San Miguel has always served the main population of the area, Casa San
Miguel assists those who fall through the cracks. The earthquake and the
closing of Mission San Miguel’s church doors have brought these two groups
together.
Now Old
Mission San Miguel –and its friend in need -- Casa San Miguel-- proudly
announce a joint Benefit Concert: “An
Intimate Evening with Tish Hinojosa” the acclaimed and world renown
vocalist and guitarist, to be held at the St. Rose Parish Hall,( 820 Creston
Road, Paso Robles) at 7P.M. Saturday, September 18, 2004.
As one of
thirteen children born into a Mexican-American family in San Antonio, Texas,
Tish began her life at the intersection of traditional Mexican music and the
shimmering sounds of 60’s pop bands like the Beatles and the Byrds. Renowned
for her ability to move with equal grace through many musical styles, Tish
Hinojosa’s work dissolves the boundaries between cultures, languages and
musical genres. –It all adds up to a unique and unmistakable musical
sensibility.
Hinojosa’s
music –over ten albums and countless tours of North and South America and
Europe, is widely praised in the international press. She has also made many television appearances, performed at the
White House, and toured the United States with eminent national symphonic
orchestras.
Tickets for
the concert are $25.00 and $35.00. Also available are a limited number of
V.I.P. concert packages for $65.00 which includes an intimate pre-concert wine
reception with Tish ( 5:30-6:30 P.M.) and premium concert seating. Your payment
is tax deductible.
Please help
these missions and have some fun too! -- Your tax-deductible donation for the
event is very important. Mission San
Miguel desperately needs help for the building of a Convocation Center to house
the Parish for its services and special events while the old historic mission
buildings can be repaired and preserved, and Casa San Miguel (a 501C3
non-profit corporation) needs support to continue to offer its outreach
services..---So why not have a fun and entertaining evening of great music and
do some good for the community at the same time!
