Mission San Miguel, San Miguel, CA. . – The most famous dish in the entire
repertoire of Spanish cuisine is Paella. If you ever find yourself in a Spanish
restaurant that serves paella give it a try. You'll love it! But you don’t have to go to Spain to sample
this delicacy. At Noon on Sunday
October 24th, 2004, in a benefit for the Mission
Preservation Fund, the Spanish Restaurant “Casa de España” from Whittier,
California, will come to the Mission
San Miguel picnic grounds
to serve a delicious meal of Paella and Tapas.
Originally paella was cooked only
by men and only for a communal midday meal ---much like our traditional
barbecues. The Paella served will be the delicious traditional saffron-rice
dish with a medley of fresh seafood, served with bread and salad.
Tapas will also be offered. Tapas is best described as little
Spanish appetizers with a variety of tastes.—Usually something for
everyone!—Great for those that just want to try some different tastes.
In addition Vina Robles
Vineyards, Locatelli Vineyards, Rainbows End Vineyards, as well as Olive Oil
producer Fusano Olive Orchards will offer wine and olive oil tastings to
accompany the meal.---What a treat! –The price of the Paella meal will be
$12.00, The Tapas $5.00.
Entertainment during the
affair will include Flamenco, Filipino and Mexican dances as well as Spanish
serenades.
This is a chance that you can’t pass up!
–Where else could you get an authentic Spanish meal for such a reasonable cost
---and be able to benefit the Mission at the same time!
