Historic Old Mission San Miguel takes first steps in recovery from earthquake disaster.

Posted on Jan 22, 2004

Mission San Miguel, San Miguel, CA. .
–Great News! On January 15th Old Mission San Miguel reopened its Parish Office, Gift shop, and Museum to the public. While parts of the structure such as the old Mission Church remain closed, “We’re opened for business and on the mend!,” says Fr. Ray Tintle.

Just like September 11th brought the Nation together, the earthquake energized the community and strengthened its resolve to preserve the old historic church. “There’s so much history, pathos and spirituality encompassed in these old walls, that they’re as much part of the structure as the adobe brick! –It would be a sin to let this all crumble away.”

For access and directions to the Parish Office, call 805 467-2131 or 805 467-3256.
