12. The Sala

The large figure of St. Michael (San Miguel) is carved from wood with a plaster like finish and then painted. He is standing on a slain demon. This was donated to the mission in 1950. There is also a large display case contains silk vestments that were worn by the priest during religious celebrations. The various colors of the vestments relates to various seasons and feast days in the church year. Many of the vestments were sent from Mexico and Spain. Sometimes women would donate their ornate gowns to be made into vestments for the missions.
